A very big issue has come to our attention in 7th grade. Let’s think about it this way: if you’re in North America or Europe and somebody in your family gets hurt, the first thing you would think of is to call the ambulance. Usually in about 15 minutes, the ambulance comes and brings the patient to the hospital. Have you ever thought how does the ambulance travel so fast back and forth?
As most of you know, when drivers on the road hear the ambulance’s siren, they immediately stop and pull over to the side so the ambulance can get through to save a life.
Yet, you’ve also probably noticed that sadly, they don’t do that here in Shanghai. This is a serious issue and so that’s why we decided to start the Ambulance Make Way Club. Our goal is for Shanghai residents and citizens to move aside and stop when they hear or see the ambulance. We’re confident that we WILL accomplish this goal, but we need everybody’s help!
This is where the parents can contribute and help: when you are driving, please try to move aside and stop when you hear the ambulance or instruct and encourage your driver to do the same. It would really only take a few seconds out of everyone’s life to move aside, but those few seconds might just save a life. This of course is going to be hard if only the SAS community does this, so we are trying to spread the word! We plan to branch out to the community beyond SAS and introduce this idea to other schools as well. We have discussed contacting bus/taxi companies, writing articles for the local newspaper, and talking to traffic directors. The possibilities are endless!
If you have any ideas or feedback, we would appreciate that as well. Please send any ideas, comments or feedback to this e-mail:
or leave a comment on our website at:
We greatly appreciate it!
Now listen to this: There are 357 students in elementary school, 344 students in middle school, 471 students in high school, and each student has 2 parents so that would be 2344 parents, and if each parent tells at least 4 friends about this project, then 9376 friends will know, so all in all, 12892 people in Shanghai would know about this problem and try to help solve it together. So it will help a great deal if you could please tell at least 4 friends, colleagues, employees, employers about this project.
Already our group is on-the-go spreading the word, and we’d greatly appreciate it if you could consider and think through this e-mail, it’ll help a lot! Thanks!
We’d appreciate any type of support such as advice or sponsorships if you are able to do so. Thanks again! Your choices can and will make a difference.
I took the new Buick Regal GS for a two day break in ride from May 2nd to May 3rd. We bought the car the previous week and there were several reasons for choosing the Regal. According to my wife, who's Chinese, it wasn't important which car to buy. As a foreigner coming from Scandinavia, the first thing I look for is safety, i.e. NCAP testing results.
My first choice of car was the Buick Lacrosse, but due to availability problems because of popularity I settled for the Regal GS. The Regal GS is in same price range as the corresponding Lacrosse 2.4 RMB 260.000,- before taxes, insurance, plates etc.
I have spent a lot of time editing the original driver's test. The original document contained the Chinese version as well, which has been removed. I also optimized it a little by removing the correct answers and instead marking them in yellow.
I will also create a brain-dump (only questions and correct answer) later. This is very time consuming so I hope you can be patient.
